With the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2023 this week on June 21, the diaspora in the UK and around the world are fully gearing up to celebrate the ancient Indian practice of wellness and wellbeing.
The ninth annual IDY will see Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting the United Nations Headquarters in New York where he will be joined by United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) President Csaba Korosi to participate in the celebrations.
There are several ways you can take part in this special day – themed around ‘Humanity’ this year –in the UK, as British Indians across the country have planned various events and celebrations for the much-anticipated day.
Trafalgar Square, London
The IDY celebrations at London’s Trafalgar Square in London have attracted hundreds to the iconic square over the years and so it is no surprise that the return of the famous event was announced earlier by the Indian High Commission.

Summer Solstice Yoga Day, Driffield
Aimed to provide the perfect midweek tonic for mind, body and soul, this day-long workshop to be held at Windmill Hill will see a great mix of breathwork and meditation, suryanamaskara (sun salutations) and Yin Yoga Womenderment.
