After a five-year closure for essential renovation, the Brahma Kumaris’ Global Retreat Centre in Oxfordshire is once again opening its doors to the public for celebration and meditation.

On July 23, the grand re-opening entitled ‘Feeling Peace – The Meditation Experience’ will include senior yogis of the Brahma Kumaris, including Sister Mohini from the US and Brother Brij Mohan from India and others from around the world.

The Global Retreat Centre has been offering meditation retreats to over 250,000 people from all continents, faiths and backgrounds since it opened in 1993. Its popularity is proof of how Western society is being inspired by the core philosophy, teachings and ways of living demonstrated by India for thousands of years.

This Palladian villa of extraordinary beauty and tranquillity is set in the heart of the English countryside, with 55 acres of historical gardens and overlooks the River Thames. Over the past 30 years, it has been a beacon of hope and a place of peace for individuals and professional groups, including leaders, educationalists, social workers, prison staff, health workers and more.

Sister Jayanti, Additional Administrative Head of the Brahma Kumaris, who is based in London, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming back our friends and colleagues from the UK and around the world to continue our work.

“Together, we can uplift ourselves and others in the unique spiritual atmosphere that has been created here and so bring about positive change to our challenged world.”

Brahma Kumaris (UK) is a registered charity that teaches Raja Yoga meditation as a way of experiencing peace of mind and a positive approach to life. Courses, talks, workshops, meditation sessions and retreats are offered in locations around the UK.
