As we’re coming out of winter the weather is still a little chilly and to substitute that extra hot cup of tea or coffee, I have put together this recipe for a Chai Latte.
It’s the perfect thing to make when you don’t have a lot of time and it’s also suitable for vegans. Plus, this recipe also has many health benefits due to the ingredients it contains.
Almond milk: This is a great vegan alternative that is easily sourced in most supermarkets or is simple to make at home. Get almond milk that’s been fortified so is a source of vitamin D which helps to ensure that your bones stay healthy.
Low fat coconut milk: This is a healthy fat that will add a lovely creamy flavour and a little sweetness to your latte.
Cinnamon, ginger, cloves and nutmeg: These ingredients make up the best flavours of the latte but they’re also known for their antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal, digestive health and immunity boosting properties.
As always, you can substitute any products that you aren’t too keen on or add anything you think is missing. If you’re feeling a little under the weather, I would strongly suggest adding some turmeric powder. Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.
Tip: turmeric is best absorbed when paired with fats or some black pepper.
The recipe has been very popular among my clients because it just tastes so good; so why not give it a try and see what you’re missing!
You can adjust the spices to your personal preferences.
Make this warming drink to have in the mornings or even the afternoons over these colder months. It’s so simple to make with ingredients that are easily available and all you need is a saucepan. Enjoy this caffeine-free Vegan Chai Latte.
