Easy steps on the road to a pain-free, healthy life
Published on

I’m sure you will agree with me that our mental and physical health affects our daily lives. And when we get diagnosed with a health condition, it can at times be very distressing and difficult. Simple things that many of us take for granted become harder, for instance, walking up the stairs or being able to have a good night’s sleep.

Today I want to share how in the past, my member Hema felt stuck in so many ways because of her health. And it was only when she decided to take charge and make some changes did her life change for the better.

Hema joined my wellness program in March because she was struggling from a lot of knee pain, which had affected her quality of life.

Given the extreme pain, she was unable to do many things include walk, which resulted in her piling on the kilos. And this then contributed to her raised blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Plus, the pain affected her emotionally as well and she was often in tears.

Why your self-care is so important

She had contacted her doctor about the pain and was prescribed strong pain killers but was unable to see the doctor in person because of Covid restrictions at this point, she felt low, frustrated and unsupported.

In the past, Hema used to think that her doctor needed to help her manage her pain, but now looking back, she realises she had to be the one who needed to help herself, with self-love and self-care.

Hema decided to start her wellness journey with me to learn how to take care of herself better, from eating healthier to improving her daily routines and is so happy that she did this.

Hema transformed her life in many significant ways by prioritising her own self-care. Hema has done this step-by-step by making small changes over six months and she built it all up gradually.

What Hema learnt in the Wellness Membership Program:

  • To have balanced meals

  • Plan and prepare meals

  • Eat mindfully

  • Stop counting calories

  • How to read food labels

  • Improved nutrition knowledge

  • Increase her activity gradually and at a pace that she could

  • Self-love and self-care

  • Prioritising herself
