Do You Know What Your BMI Is? If you haven’t checked your BMI recently, now is the time to do it! Your BMI (Body Mass Index) is a simple but important measure that helps determine whether you're at a healthy weight. But it’s more than just a number, BMI plays a big role in understanding your risk for some serious health conditions.

A higher BMI can put you at risk for:

  • Heart disease

  • Type 2 diabetes

  • High blood pressure

  • Stroke

  • Joint problems (like arthritis)

  • Sleep apnea

  • Certain cancers

Why BMI Matters Even More for South Asians and Some Other Ethnic Backgrounds:

Did you know that for South Asians and some other ethnic groups, the thresholds for being overweight and obese are lower than for others?

For us, the risk starts earlier. An overweight BMI is 23 (instead of 25), and obesity starts at 27.5 (instead of 30).

This is because South Asians have a higher risk of conditions like type 2 diabetes and heart disease, even at a lower BMI compared to other populations. If you're in this category, it's crucial to take action sooner rather than later.

Take Action Today – Don’t Wait for a Diagnosis!

If your BMI is higher than 23, you don’t have to wait for a doctor’s warning to make a change. The earlier you act, the better your chances are of preventing chronic diseases and improving your quality of life.

It’s much easier, faster and enjoyable when you have the right support and a step-by-step doable program that gives you results.
