World leaders congratulate Modi on re-election as Indian PM

After Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's historic win in the Lok Sabha elections, world leaders took to X to congratulate the PM on the third consecutive electoral victory

PM Modi thanked Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Wednesday after she congratulated him, adding that he is looking forward to working together for global good.

Expressing gratitude to his Italian counterpart, PM Modi, in a post on X wrote, "Thank you for your kind wishes PM @GiorgiaMeloni. We remain committed to deepening India-Italy strategic partnership which is underpinned by shared values and interests."

"Looking forward to working together for global good," he added.

Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu also wished the PM after the results of the Lok Sabha elections, and said he looks forward to closer cooperation for further strengthening of bilateral ties between the two nations.

Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth congratulated PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday on his "laudable victory for a historic third term."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has secured a third term, but the BJP will need the support of other parties in coalition, primarily -- JD (U) chief Nitish Kumar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.

The counting of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was held on Tuesday. According to the Election Commission of India, BJP won 240 seats, much lower than its 2019 tally of 303. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong growth winning 99 seats. The INDIA bloc crossed the 230 mark, posing stiff competition, and defying all predictions.
