Virat Kohli bags award as India line up England T20 clash
India's star batter Virat Kohli has been named the ICC Men's Player of the Month for October 2022 after some outstanding performances in the shortest format of the game.
Kohli celebrates his first Player of the Month prize after registering 205 runs with the bat, and showcasing the full array of his batting talent throughout October. As well as scoring a brilliant half-century against the Netherlands in Sydney, he produced unforgettable innings in the stunning victory over Pakistan in front of a capacity crowd in Melbourne to kick off their Super 12 campaign in the Men's T20 World Cup.
Meanwhile, India close out the Super 12s with a comfortable win to top their group - they will play England in November 10 semi-final at Adelaide. With four wins out of their five matches, India have 8 points.
Defending a target of 187, India got off to a flying start as veteran bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar started the innings with a wicket on the very first bowl of his first over as he dismissed Zimbabwe opener Wessely Madhevere for zero.
Suryakumar Yadav played yet another breathtaking knock of an unbeaten 61 from 25 balls followed by superb bowling from the bowlers helped India bundle out Zimbabwe for 115 to clinch a 71-run win in their final Group 2, Super 12 match of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup at Melbourne on November 6.
