Indian President to attend Queen's funeral in UK

Indian President Droupadi Murmu will be visiting London, UK on September 17-19, to attend the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and offer condolences on behalf of the Government of India.

Queen Elizabeth II, the former head of state of the UK and Head of the Commonwealth of Nations passed away on September 8.

President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Minister S Jaishankar have expressed condolences at the demise of the Queen. India also observed a day of national mourning on Sunday, 11 September 2022.

In the 70 years of reign of Queen Elizabeth II, India-UK ties have evolved, flourished and strengthened immensely.

The coffin of Queen Elizabeth II will make its journey from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall on September 14 for Lying-in-State after a final night at the late monarch's London residence. 

The coffin of Queen Elizabeth II arrived at Buckingham Palace from Edinburgh and will rest overnight in the Bow Room of the palace, the Royal Family said.

"Her Majesty The Queen's coffin has arrived at Buckingham Palace, where it will rest overnight in the Bow Room. Tomorrow the coffin will be borne in Procession on a Gun Carriage of The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery to the Palace of Westminster," The Royal Family wrote on Twitter.
