India vs England second cricket Test in full swing at Lord's

Day one of the second Test got underway after some rain disruption on August 12, with Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul starting off the India innings.

The overcast conditions at Lord’s Cricket Ground bode well for pacers and with the first Test at Trent Bridge a rain-enforced draw, both sides keen to notch up a win.

India racked up 276 for three to assume control.

The England captain won the toss, but Joe Root’s decision to bowl first on the opening day of the second Test didn’t go well. A combination of quality batting by team India, spells of uninspired bowling from Root’s team and unenthusiastic swing left the tourists in a much secured position.

Rohit Sharma set the tone at the top of the order with a fine 83. But it was his opening partner, KL Rahul, who secured a celebratary moment for Indian team with an aesthetic 127 not out.

Day 2 starts with the early departure of Indian opener KL Rahul (129 runs off 250 balls) and Ajinkya Rahane (1 run off 23 balls) as Ollie Robinson and James Anderson gave England massive breakthroughs in the second Test at Lord's. Rohit missed out on his maiden overseas Test century by just 17 runs as he was castled by veteran pacer James Anderson for 83.

The weekend is stacked up for some great action at Lord’s.
