As the coronavirus lockdown limitations continue to inhibit Indian cinematic releases, Zee5 Global released its first tech-horror flick 'Unlock' straight to digital recently.

Directed by Debatma Mandal,the thriller features popular Indian television faces'such as Hina Khan and Kushal Tandon as well as former?Miss India World 2015 Aditi Arya.

“Technology is changing so fast and its reach is growing immensely. With 'Unlock - The Haunted App', we are showcasing the dark side of the web which a lot of people are unaware of,” said Khan.

Produced by?Wind Horse Films and Krasnaya Corporation,'Unlock' is a story about a haunted app that grants one's darkest wishes but with consequences. The plot revolves around the protagonist, Suhani, who finds herself in possession of a deviant mobile app while trying her best to not lose the man of her dreams, Amar, to her roommate Riddhi.?

Kushal Tandon adds: “The genre of the dark web is not explored in Bollywood and is extremely synonymous to the times we are living in. The reality is getting blurred with digital advancement and, who knows, soon we will have an assistant voice as our best friend!”

The official trailer of the film showcases glimpses of what the malicious app is capable of. The sequence of events portrayed in the trailer depicts the platform's unique take on the dark genre and sets a spine-chilling experience for viewers.

Zee5 Global claims to be one of the largest global over-the-top (OTT) platforms for Indian content and has been premiering a range of content during the course of the lockdown.

The platform launched across over 190 countries in October 2018 and has content across 17 languages, including Hindi, English, Bengali, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya, Bhojpuri, Gujarati and Punjabi. It also covers five international languages such as Malay, Thai, Bahasa, German and Russian.
