"This production is not just a mere spectacle; it's a testament to the essence of our British Asian identity. It's about honouring our roots, embracing our traditions, and showcasing the diverse narratives that define us," says Archana Kumar, the visionary writer-director behind the first British Gujarati production to make a successful London West End debut this week.

‘Mrs Kapoor's Daughter's Wedding 2 - Mauritius’ had the audience laughing out loud as they turned up in their Bollywood finery for a special one-night performance at the Adelphi Theatre for an interactive and immersive experience. They were encouraged to dress up either in red to join the “bride's side” or in blue, to be counted on the “groom's side” so they could join in the big fat Indian wedding festivities unfolding on stage.

Since its inception, the show has received widespread acclaim for its seamless integration of comedy, dance, and music, captivating audiences and establishing itself as a cultural phenomenon. Featuring relatable immersive Indian wedding rituals like the vidai ceremony, ring ceremony, and the groom's shoe-hiding (joota chupai) ceremony, the musical not only entertains but also shines a light on the cultural heritage of India.

In its latest avatar, the three-month tour commenced on April 6 and culminated in a grand finale at Adelphi on July 16. This red-carpet event also marked a significant milestone as ‘Mrs Kapoor's Daughter's Wedding’ hit a total of 100,000 audience members for its UK-wide tour. This accomplishment cements its position as one of the most successful British Indian shows touring the country.
