Popular Indian comic Biswa Kalyan Rath is back in London, and this time he’s injecting some cross-border curiosity as he dives deep into the labyrinth of the English language, love and marriage. It will all become clear in his show ‘Hinglish & Engdi’, which runs from November 4-16 at Soho Theatre.

A pre-show statement notes: “From the hip lingo of south Bombay’s elite to the peculiar quirks of English words, Biswa’s sharp wit and observational humour will have you laughing until your sides ache, with the same intensity of how Mumbaikars heads ache while hunting for flats.

“And as if that weren’t enough, he’ll also tackle the delicate dance of negotiating with your spouse on daily chores and navigating the bureaucratic maze that is a government office.”

Having dazzled audiences in India with this brand-new show, Biswa brings his fresh-out-the-oven jokes to the UK this autumn.

Biswa is one of the most established comedians in India with his trademark observational comedy. He made his Edinburgh Fringe Debut as part of Soho Theatre’s 2023 programme. His unique perspective and angry rant-style delivery turns every topic he touches into comedic gold – as seen on the popular YouTube series ‘Pretentious Movie Reviews’ alongside Kanan Gill.

In 2023, Biswa’s Amazon special ‘Mood Kharaab’ was filmed at Soho Theatre, London’s most vibrant producer for new theatre, comedy and cabaret. Soho Theatre India is the UK’s leading producer of Indian comedy and works with artists of South Asian heritage from around the world. A home for South Asian theatre since the venue opened in Dean Street in 2000, the theatre has been touring work to India for well over a decade.

Since 2019, Soho Theatre has presented UK and international comedians in Mumbai in partnership with G5A and OML among others, and this year in collaboration with the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) co-presented the UK and international debut of ‘The Gentlemen's Club’
