In time for Telugu Language Day, marked at the end of August, ZEE5 Global has revealed that Telugu cinema is one of the top vernacular languages making on the streaming platform.

Some of the most notable releases like ‘RRR’, ‘Karthikeya 2’ and ‘Hanu-Man’, have outperformed others in the vernacular category to become all-time top-watched movies on ZEE5 Global. ‘RRR’, an Oscar-winner and Telugu-first film, has reportedly broken through the limits of regional content, allowing people worldwide to watch the epic story in various languages.

Archana Anand, Chief Business Officer at ZEE5 Global, commented: “At ZEE5 Global, we’re dedicated to bringing South Asian regional languages to a global audience, breaking down the traditional barriers between local and international content.

We’re excited about the future and confident that Telugu and other regional content will reach new heights and establish themselves further as we expand their global presence.”

Telugu content has not only captivated Indian viewers but, with the help of a platform like ZEE5 Global, has gained popularity on a global scale. For example, Telugu content is most watched in markets like the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. In the past year, Telugu viewership accounted for 25 per cent of all vernacular language content consumption on the platform.
