Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, who has not had a release for some time now, is back with his next mega release ‘Pathaan’.

The Yash Raj Films (YRF) production, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, has been among the most anticipated films to hit the box office in India in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns.

This week, YRF finally revealed the release date of this high-octane spy thriller, directed by Siddharth Anand, as January 25, 2023 – a lucrative Republic Day week for Bollywood releases. The announcement came with a specially shot date video that has no film footage whatsoever! The video teases a glimpse of SRK’s much-hyped ‘Pathaan’ look, in an attempt to whet the appetite of his fans waiting for the big reveal of his latest on-screen avatar.

The announcement video has been directed by Siddharth and also reveals that the action spectacle will be a multilingual release – in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

SRK backed up the announcement to also surprise his fans with an impromptu #AskSRK interaction round on Twitter and was bombarded with questions.

During the session, one of the questions was about where the actor had gone missing for the past few months: "#AskSRK @iamsrk Kaha gayab ho dear... Filmo mai aate reho... Khabro mai nahi".

Replying to this, SRK wrote, "Ok next time I will be 'Khabardaar' #Pathaan."

This comes in reference to the recent controversies as SRK’s son Aryan Khan was arrested in an alleged drug cruise case in Mumbai. A section of social media users also trolled him for allegedly spitting on late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar's mortal remains at her funeral. Later it was cleared through viral pictures that he “blowed” on her mortal remains as "a religious practise after reciting dua (prayer)."
