Besan Ki Barfi is a popular Indian sweet usually made with gram flour, ghee and sugar. However, we're making a healthier version with coconut oil instead of ghee.

Sweets made with besan (gram flour) are our favourite kind of sweets! This chickpea fudge showcases the earthy nutty flavour of besan, and the barfi has an almost peanut butter taste.

To bring this treat to life, the gram flour is to be sautéed on a low heat combined with sugar. The trick is to ensure the flour is fully cooked until it turns a golden colour and imparts a lovely nutty aroma.

This recipe requires a minimal amount of ingredients, but some knack to get right. Indian sweets tend to need a little practice, but here are some steps you can follow to get the perfect melt in your mouth barfi every time.
