Since its inauguration in 2012, Cycle4Sewa has become one of the most anticipated Sewa UK events of the year.

Cycle4Sewa brings together British Indians of all ages from across the UK to enjoy a day of cycling whilst participating in the act of sewa or service. The day is packed with a variety of cycling challenges starting with the individual event where participants complete as many laps of the track as possible in a two-hour time frame.

This is then followed by the team event, consisting of five cyclists per team, collectively completing laps of the track in one hour to battle it out for the coveted Cycle4Sewa shield. Trophies, medals and certificates are presented to participants and teams for their achievements.

The 2024 schedule for the popular series begins on May 5 at Gravesend Cyclopark in south London. This will be followed up by events in north London on June 16 and east London on September 1.

Sewa UK said: “Cycle4Sewa has gone from strength to strength and the event continues to get bigger and better, year on year. The money raised through registrations, donations and sponsorship forms all goes towards Sewa UK projects which promote catering for people with disabilities in India.

“Many of the participants and organisers have visited these projects themselves, seeing first-hand the difference it is making to those in need.”

Another popular Sewa UK fundraiser effort, the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, is scheduled for May 26. It marks the 18th challenge under the “Charity through Adventure” tagline. The sponsored walk/trek covers 24.5 miles and goes across Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales – a total climb of 5,000 feet. It offers participants the choice to walk one, two or all three peaks.
