The National Indian Students and Alumni Union (NISAU) UK has issued the call-out for nominations for the third edition of the India-UK Achievers Honours to celebrate the Class of 2025.

The initiative, one of the most prestigious global recognitions for Indian students and alumni of UK institutions, is designed to strengthen the educational and cultural bridge between India and Britain. The launch event last week coincided with Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas celebrations at the House of Lords, where policymakers, academics and dignitaries reflected upon this aspect of the diaspora living bridge.

Lord Karan Bilimoria CBE said: “The Achievers Honours has been an enormous success where we have celebrated alumni across the world, no one else anywhere in the world does this the way we celebrate Indian students here.

“India is a country everyone is looking at as a superpower, and everyone knows that Indian students are phenomenal and Indian alumni are leading the biggest countries in the world, the World Bank and more.”

Sir Steve Smith, the UK government's International Education Champion, clarified that the UK remains a welcoming country for international students.

He said: “There is no limit to the number of those coming into the UK, and crucially the Graduate Route will not be changed under this government.

“I can guarantee that India will remain an absolute priority for developing stronger relationships between our two higher education systems, between our students and staff and above all between our two peoples. Education is the absolute core of our living bridge.”

Alison Barrett MBE, Director India – British Council, said: “This initiative not only celebrates the remarkable achievements of Indian students and alumni but also reinforces the vital cultural and educational ties that bind people of both our countries.”
