Rajasthan, dubbed the sunshine state of India, brought an investor roadshow to the UK with the state’s Chief Minister, Bhajan Lal Sharma, and Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari showcasing the many benefits of investing in a region ranked among the top 10 in India’s Ease of Doing Business reforms.

The High Commission of India in London and Federation Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) coordinated a London Investor Meet last week among a series of sectoral meetings to lay out the potential for UK-Rajasthan collaborations in the resource-rich state – from IT and renewables to healthcare and tourism. As part of similar roadshow across Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the Gulf nations and Germany, the CM-led team called on UK-based businesses and investors to join in the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit in the state’s capital of Jaipur between December 9 and 11 to make first-hand decisions of joint ventures and tie-ups.

Bhajan Lal Sharma said: “Our state is not only brimming with talent and minerals, but also blessed by the solar gods as the sunshine state of India with an abundant expanse of land. From an industrial point of view, whether it is automobiles, agriculture or tourism, Rajasthan is far ahead in every field. And, with this Rising Rajasthan summit we are embarking accelerating our economic development journey.”

Inspired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Viksit Bharat mission to propel India towards a developed nation by 2047, the CM said his government is focussed on driving forward global collaborations to meet its own target of doubling the state’s economy from $180 billion to $350 billion over the next five years.

Deputy CM Diya Kumari noted: “Rajasthan and the UK have tremendous synergy across sectors that hold vast potential. Together we can unlock our state's massive resources and write a new chapter in our history, a chapter defined by growth, innovation and lasting success.

“This roadshow will be a testament to our upcoming partnerships to explore new avenues of cooperation in sectors such as auto and auto components, renewable energy, education and skills, tourism and IT and IT-enabled services. Projects in these sectors are designed to position our state as a leader in these industries, creating opportunities for innovation and collaboration. By prioritising these areas, we seek to attract global investments that will fuel long-term growth and sustainability, benefiting not just our state, but the wider region and beyond.”
