Of the 100 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects won this year by London & Partners, London’s business growth agency, India leads the tally with a 29 per cent share of inward investments into the UK capital. India emerged as a “key market” for FDI in 2023, with Europe (24 per cent) and North America (23 per cent) completing the top three source destinations for London.

Roadmetrics, an artificial intelligence (AI) software mobility company from India, was among the highlights of a significant hike in climate tech investments for the year, with the sector now making up 23 per cent of FDI into London – a two-fold increase from last year. Climate tech investments into the city resulted in the creation of nearly 1,000 jobs, a three-fold increase.

Laura Citron, CEO of London & Partners, said: “London & Partners teams around the world are the city's talent scouts, identifying the most exciting international businesses in key growth sectors, who will ultimately drive and deliver future growth for London.

“From assessing the commercial opportunity to hiring their first team to accessing clients and investors, London & Partners' expert teams help shortcut months by putting international companies directly in touch with the right people in London.”

At the close of 2023, London is celebrating inward investments from 100 international tech companies, resulting in the creation of over 4,380 jobs – marking a 40 per cent year-on-year growth.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: “I’m delighted that London & Partners has reached this significant milestone of 100 international tech companies investing in our capital, boosting the economy and supporting local jobs.

“I’m committed to being London’s most pro-business mayor ever and it’s fantastic to see the significant investment from climate technology, showcasing London’s commitment to decarbonisation and improving air quality as we continue working towards building a fairer, more prosperous London for everyone.”

An additional 278 separate companies also set up in the UK capital this year, which London & Partners says reaffirms London’s position as a leading European investment destination.
