Self-Care Week: 7 simple tips for a happier, healthier you

Sujata Din

This week is Self-Care Week, and it’s the perfect reminder to prioritise YOU. Self-care isn’t selfish, it’s essential for your health, happiness, and well-being. It’s not just about pampering yourself; it’s about nurturing your mind and body from the inside out.

In these tips I try and explain how small changes can make a big difference:

  1. How a daily walk can boost your mood and reduce stress.

  2. The benefits of meditation for grounding and clarity. Plus you get a meditation practise to do at home.

  3. Why staying hydrated is key to feeling your best.

  4. Healthy snack ideas that keep you energised.

  5. Simple stretches to ease tension and beat mid-day slumps.

  6. How journaling can make you happier through gratitude.

  7. Why a digital detox before bed improves your sleep.

What is National Self-Care Week?

Self-Care Week is an annual national awareness week that focuses on embedding support for self-care across communities, families and generations. The theme for 18-24 November 2024 is “Mind and Body” and organisations are encouraged to use Self-Care Week as a hook to help people practise self-care for a healthier, happier life.

The initiative is seen as vital for engaging and encouraging people to make better choices about their health and wellbeing because preventable illnesses impact lives, livelihoods, and families, increasing demand on health services, which are already under intense pressure.
