How shopping mindfully can help on your wellbeing journey

Sujata Din

You probably don't give much thought to the way you do your grocery shopping. And week by week you realise you are spending so much money.

You come home and you’re still stuck on what to make for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  And when you don't use the food, you empty your refrigerator and throw out produce and leftovers that have gone bad.

Are you stuck in an endless loop of overspending and feeling overwhelmed when food shopping?  It’s so important to plan and prepare. It will not only save you money, but it will save you time too!

Be aware of what you really need and don’t let the supermarket convince you need more than what you came for.

My health tips have helped many of my clients make their grocery shopping easier, quicker and cheaper!

I teach my clients how to plan properly for every meal and snack of the week. This way you’re not wondering what you will eat for your next meal and you don’t spend all day in the kitchen.

For most packaged foods, the “Best before” date is an indication of how long it tastes the best whereas the “Use by” date is when it’s safe to eat it by. Also, don’t throw away wilted vegetables like carrots or celery. These may not look good but can still be used and will taste good in soups and stews. And, preserve your vegetables by fermenting, which is easily done by immersing vegetables such as cucumber, carrots, and cabbage along with fragrant herbs like thyme or rosemary in brine in an airtight container.
