Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while interacting with members of the Bharatiya Janata Party, lauded Election Commission and said that India's electoral process had set a benchmark for various counties.
He has hailed India's Election Commission for ensuring free and fair election, even during the seemingly insurmountable Covid-19 crisis as the country celebrated National Voters' Day.
"India is one of the countries where the Election Commission (EC) can issue notices to people and transfer officials. Our EC and electoral process set a benchmark for various countries," said PM Modi. PM Modi's remark on the election commission comes on the same day as India celebrates National Voters Day.
"National Voters' Day is an occasion to appreciate the remarkable contribution of the EC to strengthen our democratic fabric and ensure smooth conduct of elections. This is also a day to spread awareness on the need of ensuring voter registration, particularly among the youth," PM Modi tweeted.
