iGlobal Desk

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting the United States this week, where he is scheduled to hold a series of high-level meetings with US President Joe Biden, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Australian Prime Minister Scot Morrison, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson. PM Modi is also expected to meet US Vice President Kamala Harris, an Indian origin woman who rose to such rank in the US for the first time, and take part in UNGA general debate.

PM Modi will hold the first physical bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden and participate in the first in-person Quad leaders' summit in Washington on September 24.

Incidentally, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson's visit coincides with PM Modi's visit to Washington. There is also a likelihood of them meeting as well.

Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi had earlier announced, "PM (Modi) will participate in the first in-person Quad leaders' summit in Washington on September 24. On September 25, he will address the general debate of the UN General Assembly at its 76th session. While the PM is in Washington, he will also have a bilateral meeting with President Biden.”

The theme for this year's General Debate is 'Building Resilience through hope to recover from COVID-19, rebuild sustainably, respond to the needs of the planet, respect the rights of people, and revitalise the United Nations.
