Ahead of the second cricket Test match at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, Indian captain Virat Kohli has highlighted returning all-rounder Moeen Ali as England's potential threat towards the visiting team.
"We are wary of his skills. He's obviously a very talented cricketer, brings consistency with the ball and as a middle-order or lower-order batsman. Especially in Test cricket, he can change the momentum of the game with the bat,” he said.
Kohli and Moeen are well versed with each other since their days at Royal Challengers Bangalore, Indian Premier League (IPL) days. Moeen’s only Test appearance since the 2019 Ashes came in Chennai six months ago, when he dismissed Kohli in each innings on his way to an eight-wicket haul and hit five sixes in a fearless 43.
Day 1 of the second Test got underway after some rain disruption, with Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul starting off the India innings. The overcast conditions bode well for pacers and with the first Test at Trent Bridge a rain-enforced draw, both sides will be keen to notch up a win this time.
The England side, captained by Joe Root, have been struggling to find their batting form and it’s all to play for at Lord’s.
