The UK-based musician is considered to be a pioneer of cross-cultural British Indian fusion music as the lead singer of the band Stereo Nation, known for songs like ‘Pyar Ho Gaya’, ‘Nachenge Saari Raat’ and ‘Gallan Gorian’. Taz, who went by name Johnny Zee during early days of his career, is credited for composing hit Bollywood songs such as ‘Daroo Vich Pyar’ (Tum Bin), ‘It's magic' (‘Koi… Mil Gaya’) and ‘Mujhpe to Jadoo’ (‘Race’), among others.
“Taz added the magic, in 'It's Magic' from ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ with his soulful voice. Prayers and strength to his family. You will be missed. RIP,” tweeted Hrithik Roshan, the lead star of the 2003 hit film.

“Heartbroken to hear that a pioneer of the British Asian music scene has just left us,” said British Indian filmmaker Gurinder Chadha.

Among others showering the late singer with tributes include Bollywood musician Adnan Sami, Bally Sagoo and Jay Sean, among others.

“So sad to hear about the passing of this legend. You touched so many lives and continue to as your music lives on. May you rest in peace brother,” said Sean.
