The award-winning creators behind popular West End shows like ‘Taj Express’ and ‘Merchants of Bollywood’ are back to the London stage with ‘Mumbai Masala’.

Dubbed the first major Bollywood immersive experience of its kind in the West End, the show is a spicy dance performance, with hip-shaking moves, heart-breaking romance, hilarious comedy, washed down with tantalising drama and delectable Indian street food. The Bollywood romance unfolds as guests are served an elegant and exclusive Indian menu curated by celebrity chef and MasterChef finalist Nisha Parmar.

Parmar said: “This is theatrical Bollywood escapism at its finest. Travel with me to Mumbai, taste some of my signature dishes in an immersive dinner and show experience.

It is crafted by Bollywood choreographers The Pujari Brothers and comes packed with sequined costumes. The choreography combines Indian classical dance with the contemporary and western dance forms to inject the Bollywood glamour on stage.

‘Mumbai Masala’ is written and directed by Toby Gough, known for creations that cross conventions, cultures and continents.

Gough said: “I am so excited to bring this fantastic Bollywood show to the West End. This will be the best in the trilogy of shows I have launched in London. This is a must-see experience!”

Songs covered in the show include chart-toppers from Bollywood hits like ‘Lagaan’, ‘Devdas’, ‘Musafir’, ‘Bunty Aur Babli’, ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’ and ‘Rang De Basanti’ and music from Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman.

‘Mumbai Masala’ tells the story of a legendary culinary family who have cooked curries for stars over three generations on the film sets of famous Bollywood movies. Crafted as a romantic food-filled love story, it marks the final instalment in a trilogy of similar Bollywood stage performances. It opened at the historic London venue of Proud City, the original home of London Cabaret, last week.
