Hear My Words: ‘The Kashmir Files’ Humanity Tour makes impact in UK

iGlobal Desk

The Humanity Tour of filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri and actor Pallavi Joshi comes as the Kashmiri Hindu and wider British Hindu community in the UK invited the duo to share their experience of making a powerful film like ‘The Kashmir Files’.

The visit this month is aimed at increasing awareness among international communities about the scourge of terrorism and the need for it to be uprooted globally, so that peace and humanity can prevail.

Vivek Agnihotri said: “Many testimonies that were woven into the film came from Kashmiri Hindus who Pallavi and I met on our research trip to UK in 2017.

“I hope the movie’s humanitarian perspective of the challenges and consequences of global terrorism, will be an eye opener for all and will reinforce the strong faith and belief Indians have in humanity.”

The organisers behind the tour said it seeks to address false and Hinduphobic accounts that sometimes emerge on party political and media platforms in the United Kingdom. The community wishes to convey the reality that pre-January 1990, Kashmiri Hindus and Muslims co-existed as part of the same community in relative harmony. It also wishes to show that for a lay person, there never was a conflict based on religion but that because of selfish politics, an entire community was wiped out with some of the most horrific torture still in evidence.

Following a controversy over an event scheduled at the Oxford Union, some of Agnihotri’s supporters have organised a “Hear My Words” session at the iconic Speakers’ Corner in London’s Hyde Park.

‘The Kashmir Files’ UK tour has covered events across the Houses of Parliament, Nehru Centre and British universities.
