Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor adds Indian splash at Coronation Concert in UK

Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor took centrestage at the Coronation Concert as she introduced the Commonwealth Virtual Choir at the grand spectacle at Windsor Castle in Berkshire over the weekend. The actor’s piece served as a prelude to a set of mesmerising performances by choirs, solo artists and duos from across 56 Commonwealth member-nations.

She said: “Namaste, our Commonwealth is a union. Together we are one-third of the world's people, one-third of the world's ocean, one-quarter of the world's land.

“Each of our countries is unique, and each of our people is special, but we choose to stand as one, learning from our history. Blessed by our diversity, driven by our values, and determined to build a more peaceful, sustainable, and prosperous future for everyone, where every voice is heard.”

She went on to introduce Steve Winwood, who performed a modern version of his iconic song 'Higher Love' accompanied by a 70-piece orchestra at the grand celebration of the crowning of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

Sonam's video was shared by her mother Sunita Kapoor who wrote in the caption: "So proud! Such an honour!" Sonam also replied back to her post saying “love you” with heart emojis.

Sonam's family gave her the loudest shoutout, from Arjun Kapoor to Sanjay Kapoor, Maheep Kapoor and Bhavna Panday posted emojis on Sunita's post.

Ahead of her appearance at the historic concert, the actor behind popular films such as ‘Khoobsurat’ and ‘Neerja’ shared details of her floral dress, a classy and elegant Bardot gown with makeup and accessories.

Taking to Instagram, the actor shared a string of pictures from the special photo-shoot showcasing the dress  designed by Anamika Khanna and Emilia Wickstead.

She said: "Historic moments call for fashion moments. I'm honoured to mark the unforgettable occasion of the #Coronationconcert by wearing the collaborative vision of two of the most incredible designers from the two countries I'm lucky to call home... @anamikakhanna.in @emiliawickstead."

It marked a particularly special long weekend for the star, who also celebrated her wedding anniversary with husband Anand Ahuja on May 8. She dropped a string of pictures on social media featuring the couple's wedding moments, vacation time and their son Vayu to celebrate the milestone.
