‘Ghoomer’, which released last week, has been competing for attention with another mega Bollywood release in ‘Gadar 2’ but has still managed to garner much critical acclaim.

Packed with a world of emotions, inspiration, and transformative storytelling, the sporty film stars Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher – who even received a special letter from the Senior Bachchan himself in praise of her talented portrayal of a cricketer.

Abhishek Bachchan plays coach Paddy whose life takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with a paraplegic sportsperson in Saiyami Kher’s character of Anina. Their journey together unfolds against societal challenges and personal struggles, guided by visionary director R. Balki's distinctive storytelling prowess.

“If you had told me a few years ago, that I’d wake up reading the praise which I’ve received for ‘Ghoomer’, I would have never believed you. I didn’t have that faith in myself, leave alone anyone else instilling it in me. It’s hard to explain what this film means to me,” said Kher, who has been basking in praise for her work.

“And Balki gave me that. This film has my blood, sweat, tears, and heart. Anina is me, I am Anina. The palindrome extends beyond just a play on the name,” she said.

According to the filmmakers, the powerful performances of Bachchan Junior and Kher shine through, delivering moments of heartache, determination, and hope. Balki's signature style seamlessly weaves their narratives, inviting viewers to embark on a transformative journey that challenges preconceived notions.

R. Balki, known for critically acclaimed films such as ‘Cheeni Kum’, ‘Paa’, and ‘Pad Man’, is exploring new ground with ‘Ghoomer’.
