Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bachchan Pandey’ gets Bollywood’s 2021 shooting schedule rolling

The cast and crew of filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala's Akshay Kumar starrer 'Bachchan Pandey' kick-started the 2021 Bollywood shooting schedule with its action flick in Jaisalmer, in the Indian state of Rajasthan.

Nadiadwala's sons Subhan and Sufiyan gave the clap for the first shot. "Muhurat shot done. Congrats to you all. Good luck team BachchanPandey @Skhannadiadwala @SufyanNadiadwa4," Warda Nadiadwala tweeted, along with a few shots of the safety precautions being taken on set in keeping with the coronavirus social distance requirements.

The team arrived in Jaisalmer over the weekend for the shoot of the film, which is headlined by Akshay Kumar and co-stars Kriti Sanon. Directed by Farhad Samji, ‘Bachchan Pandey’ will reportedly be shot in iconic areas of the city such as Gadisar Lake and Jaisalkot.

Kumar's eponymous character in the film of 'Bachchan Pandey' is that of a gangster who aspires to be an actor, while Kriti Sanon essays the role of a journalist, who harbours dreams of becoming a film director.

The action-comedy also marks Nadiadwala's tenth collaboration with Akshay Kumar.

Bollywood actor Kriti Sanon shared her own glimpses of from the sets of the film, her first project for the New Year. The 'Heropanti' star took to Instagram and shared pictures with the production team. In one of the photographs, the 'Dilwale' actor is seen holding the clapboard of the movie.

In other pictures, Sanon can be seen posing with the film crew.

Sanon noted: "1st Day of 1st film shoot in 2021!! With the production that gave me my very 1st film! #BachchanPandey Here we go..."

Sanon will be seen on screen together with Akshay Kumar for the second time, following their 2019 box-office success ‘Housefull 4’, also directed by Farhad Samji.

The film is said to be loosely based on south Indian actor Ajith's 2014 Tamil action film ‘Veeram’.

It is expected to wrap its shooting scheduled by March for a release later this year.
