‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’, to be released next week, is the story of some lesser-known facts around India’s armed struggle for Independence from British colonial rule.
As a directorial debut of talented actor Randeep Hooda, the biopic of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar comes packed with a punchy and hard-hitting rap number entitled The Savarkar Rage, which has been riding the waves since it dropped on socials. The rap in Marathi and Hindi has been written, composed and sung by Urban Street Artist Sambata.
Hooda said: “The Savarkar Rage is the film's mood. If the armed revolution had to happen today and they had access to all the music available today, they would have chosen rap to get their revolutionary ideas across.
“I listened to rap artists from India and abroad and locked Sambata out of hundreds of rappers. I briefed Sambata about the film and he understood the angst of Savarkar beautifully. And he still has that raw rage in his voice. He wrote the lyrics that took my breath away."

Sambata added: “I penned each verse with the fervour of my soul, weaving Savarkar's legacy into every rhyme. Through my voice, his passion speaks, resonating with the heartbeat of a nation yearning for freedom."
The song, mixed, mastered and produced by Hruthic Kailas Katke, ends with proclaiming "Savarkar laya Kranti Ka Daur (Armed Revolution)".
The film, a homage to India’s freedom fighters, is produced by Zee Studios, Anand Pandit, Sandeep Singh, Randeep Yogesh Rahar and Randeep Hooda and co-produced by Roopa Pandit, Sam Khan, Anwar Ali, Panchali Chakraborty.
It stars Hooda in the title role of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar – popularly known as Veer Savarkar – along with Ankita Lokhande, and Amit Sial. It is slated for release on March 22 in two languages – Hindi and Marathi.
The film’s focus is on the Indian armed revolution, highlighting freedom fighters like Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Madanlal Dhingra, Bhagat Singh and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
