Bollywoods Bhoothnath Uncle celebrates anniversary

iGlobal Desk

As his much-loved horror-comedy flick 'Bhoothnath' clocks 12 years this month, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan reminisces about the hit film, as a result of which kids still call him “Bhoothnath Uncle”. The 77-year-old actor, who is among the active stars on social media, took to Instagram to post a couple of stills from the film and penned a caption dedicated to the film "12 years of BHOOTNATH... kids still call me Bhoothnath Uncle”. 'Bhoothnath', released around the world in 2008, was directed by Vivek Sharma and revolved around the life of a mischievous child Banku, who encounters a spirit trapped in his new home and ends up striking a friendship with him. Besides Bachchan, the film also stars Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla and made quite an impact around the time of its release. For the anniversary anecdote, Bachchan also shared a coincidental reference to the film's title during an opening shot from his other box-office hit 'Agneepath'. "In 'Agneepath' there is a shot of me entering the prison and shooting dead one of the prisoners. On the wall of the prison cell was written in chalk the word 'Bhoothnath'. Agneepath was made years before... how did this happen... Incidentally that was my first shot for 'Agneepath'," he recalls.
