Mission Chicken Tikka Masala: Tom Cruise drops in at Asha’s in Birmingham

When ‘Mission Impossible’ star Tom Cruise was hit with a curry craving, he made his way to Bollywood star Asha Bhosle’s popular eatery in Birmingham Asha’s.

To the establishment’s sheer joy, the Hollywood A-lister not only enjoyed their signature Chicken Tikka Masala dish but in fact liked it so much that ordered it a second time around alongside some Saag Paneer and Mint Cauliflower.

“It was an absolute pleasure to welcome Tom Cruise to Asha's Birmingham,” Asha’s tweeted following the starry visit over the weekend.

“Tom ordered our famous Chicken Tikka Masala and enjoyed it so much that as soon as he had finished, he ordered it all over again – The greatest compliment,” the restaurant said with pride.

The award-winning Bollywood playback singer, Asha Bhosle, also soon took to Twitter to express her delight at Cruise’s choice of Indian restaurant.

“I was very happy to hear that Mr Tom Cruise enjoyed his fine dining experience at Asha's (Birmingham) and I look forward to him visiting us again soon,” she said.

Cruise is in the UK filming the seventh instalment of the box-office hit franchise ‘Mission Impossible’ and has been seen out and about in different parts of the country, including enjoying football matches during the Euro Cup and tennis at Wimbledon. On his curry outing, he was joined by unit members from the film and is said to have dismissed the idea of being tucked away in a private dining area to enjoy the fine-dining restaurant’s general ambience.

Asha’s, which prides itself as being recommended by the Michelin Guide for its “unparalleled” cuisine, is a franchise created around singer Asha Bhosle’s own favourite dishes – that she loves cooking and creating. It’s three branches, in Birmingham, Solihull and Manchester, likes to cater to a diverse palate for Indian cuisine with its menu – including a typical British invention such as the Chicken Tikka Masala.

Asha’s has been a popular hangout for celebrities ever since its launch around 14 years ago, including the likes of Rolling Stones, Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Shah Rukh Khan, among others.
