A new Shri Shirdi Saibaba Temple which opened in Milton Keynes recently has been welcoming representatives of different faith groups as part of its multi-faith approach.

Earlier this month, over 4,000 devotees visited the temple for darshan, with the overwhelmed organisers dubbing it as “Shirdi in the UK”. The rituals began with Ganapathi puja, Asta Digbala, Vaastu puja, Shanti puja , Pancha bootha puja, Rudrabhishekam & Homam in Yagashala. The learned priests who visited from various countries in addition to three generations of residing temple priests performed the most important ritual of Prana Pratishtha, the organisers said.

“Sacred Mantras were recited to invite Baba to come and reside in HIS own marble moorthy (idol) at the temple,” DreamSai, the UK-based charity behind the initiative said.

“After Prana Pratishta, Mahakumbhabhishekam is conducted by doing abhishekam of Baba with the holy waters from various revered rivers to bring the all-pervading divine energy. Even Lord Indra in the form of rain did Abhishekam of the entire temple just before the Mahakumbhabhishekam to Baba and Lord Surya sent his divine blessings in the form of wonderful weather throughout the (launch) weekend,” the charity added.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Milton Keynes, local MP, Councillors, DreamSai partners and other guests graced the launch.

Last week, a local Buddhist community group visited the temple to learn about Saibaba, his teachings and the charity’s activities.

“Based on Saibaba’s doctrine Sab Ka Malik Ek, which translates to there is only one God, Saibaba Temple warmly welcomes everyone from across the faiths or those without faith to the temple,” DreamsSai said in a statement, adding that the temple is now open regularly for darshan and aarti.
