Business leader Sangita Jindal appointed to India Advisory Council

The British Asian Trust has appointed prominent Indian business leader and philanthropist Sangita Jindal, Chairperson of JSW Foundation, to its India Advisory Council. She joins a distinguished group of Indian business leaders who serve as Advisory members of the Trust.

She said: “India’s journey to become a $7 trillion economy by 2030 calls for managing challenges and opportunities by ensuring equitable access to quality education, healthcare, skilling, and job opportunities, especially for women and children.

“This requires striking a fine balance between our nation’s development priorities and protecting its bountiful biodiversity. Social financing will play a catalytic role in meeting these developmental objectives. I look forward to making a meaningful contribution in this direction.”

The British Asian Trust was founded in 2007 by His Majesty King Charles III and a group of visionary British Asian business leaders. Delivering innovative solutions in education, livelihoods, mental health, child protection, and conservation, to date, it has positively impacted the lives of 12 million people across South Asia.

Under Sangita Jindal's leadership, JSW Foundation has significantly impacted India’s social and cultural landscape, enabling holistic change in communities across the country. JSW Foundation and British Asian Trust have previously partnered to develop the Skill Impact Bond – India’s first and largest impact bond for employment with a focus on bringing more women into the workforce.

Sangita Jindal is also an esteemed member of several prestigious global and national advisory boards and councils. She is an Eisenhower Fellow, serving on the Board of Trustees of the World Monuments Fund – India Chapter and as an Advisor on the Khoj Board. She is a member of the Tate International Council, the UN Women Business Sector Advisory Council (BSAC), a governing board member of Mumbai First and a global trustee of Asia Society. She has also been elected as Chairperson of the Asia Society India Centre in 2024.
